As soon as the summer season starts, the water crisis in Delhi has started deepening. From now on, there is a shortage of water supply in many areas. In view of this, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has decided to take the work of water management directly into his own hands. In the meeting of Jal Minister Saurabh Bhardwaj and top officials of the Jal Board on Monday, it has been decided that the Jal Board will share with the Chief Minister the amount of purified water per day and the amount of drinking water reaching the end user. A target has also been set that by the next year, the quantity of treated water in STP plants should be increased to 950 MGD, so that the water crisis of the capital can be overcome.

Taking a major decision, it has been decided to issue RF ID cards to those who take water from RO plants. It is being told that with this the exact number of people dependent on water from the RO plant can be ascertained. This will also help in the consumption of water through the RO plant and subsequently in its production. In the first phase, 500 RO plants will be set up at different places. This facility can be run with Delhi government and PPP cooperation.

A large amount of water is also used to irrigate plants in parks and roadsides. This target has been set that by consuming the entire water treated by the STP plants, the water treated by the STP plants should be fully utilized for this purpose. Work is underway to increase the capacity of Sewage Treatment Plant (STP). It is said that by next year the capacity of the STP will increase to 950 MGD. This is equivalent to the total water consumption in Delhi on a normal day.
